ALMOST a third of people (32 per cent) in Yorkshire and the Humber do not have their eyes checked on a regular basis.
Now a charity drive is encouraging people to get their eyes tested regularly to avoid preventable sight loss.
The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) and Action for Blind People have teamed up with Boots Opticians for the Great Big Eye Check.
Optometrist and RNIB’s eye health development adviser Sonal Rughani, said: “ It’s a sad fact that 100 people in the UK start to lose their sight every day; many people lose their sight because early signs of eye disease go undetected. We hope that Boots Opticians Great Big Eye Check will help encourage everyone to get their eyes checked at their local opticians.”
