Turn back time with the latest hi-tech beauty treatment. MAXINE GORDON reports.

IT’S the non-invasive beauty treatment that promises to erase fine lines, rejuvenate skin and tackle problems such as dehydration, sun damage, acne and rosacea.

Environ combines hi-tech salon facials with a range of products, specifically tailored to an individual’s needs, explains Marjorie Grice, of Inside Out Spa at the Royal York Hotel.

The system was designed by a South African dermatologist and is now popular in the UK, and a favourite of celebrities who love that it offers a natural answer counterpoint to Botox and fillers.

It is a less invasive alternative to these treatments, says Marjorie, and takes away the risks. “You get similar results. Although they are not as dramatic or instant, people can see the difference.”

Environ is particularly suited to people with problem skin.

“It is for you if you want to bring about a change to your skin and are not just after some pampering,” says Marjorie, adding that a course of treatment works best when matched by using Environ products at home.

An hour’s Environ facial costs from £55, with ten per cent off a course of six.

The treatment itself uses pulsed currents and sound waves to penetrate the skin and make the products work effectively.

A mask made of algae is then applied, two probes attached, and the treatment continues to work as you relax.

The feeling is quite intense, says Marjorie, but not unpleasant.

And the results? “They are immediate,” says Marjorie. “The skin gets an immediate hydration and most people say the effects last.”

Environ, she adds, is a “cosmeceutical”, a new trend in the industry that seeks to bridge the gap between medicine and beauty therapy.

The formulations and professional treatments are based on nutrients that have been scientifically researched and thoroughly tested.

Marjorie runs regular taster sessions, where your skin will be analysed by the powerful Visia imagining machine to identify your specific problems and the correct Environ course of treatment identified.

The hour-long session includes a taster facial and costs £20, redeemable against any Environ facials booked on the day or on products purchased.

The next event takes place on Wednesday, from 11am to 6pm. Places are limited and booking is recommended. To book, telephone 01904 688610. Find out more at insideoutspa.co.uk.
