FEARLESS fundraisers are being challenged to spend a spooky night in one of York’s most haunted properties in aid of The Press’s Guardian Angels Appeal.

The company Most Haunted Nites is looking for brave souls to take part in a sponsored ghost hunt at 35 Stonegate, in York – a centuries-old building that has featured on various television programmes.

In 2006, TV psychic Derek Acorah was said to have been strangled in the house by a spectre and in April 2007 an ITV film crew fled screaming because of poltergeist activity.

The investigation, on Saturday, August 9, will be led by psychic Steve Kneeshaw, who has been researching paranormal activity for the past six years with his team at Most Haunted Nites.

He said: “You’ve watched it on TV, but now you have the chance to actually experience it for yourself – the smells, the feelings, the noises and the footsteps.

“There have also been several sightings of young children walking in the rooms and people have felt their pockets being pulled.

“There is poltergeist activity, but not bad poltergeist activity, or we would not be taking members of the general public there.”

On arrival at the haunted house, Steve will lead a tour of the building and explain all about the ghosts supposed to live there.

Everyone taking part will get a “five-star” buffet at midnight and then it’s back to the investigation until the early hours.

At the end everyone will be presented with a framed certificate.

Tickets costs £45 and all participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship money for our Guardian Angels Appeal, which aims to raise £300,000 to fund life-saving high-dependency facilities for children at York Hospital.

The new state-of-the-art unit will mean many more youngsters can be treated in York rather than having to be transferred further afield to cities like Leeds and Hull.

These children could be suffering from illnesses including meningitis, septicemia, breathing difficulties, viral chest infections, obstructions of the voice box, severe asthma, bronchiolitis, convulsions or coma and physical injury.
