THESE fascinating photos, never before published online, show the construction and early years of one of the region's most famous structures: The Humber Bridge.
Although The Press circulation area does not stretch to Hull, the project was seen as so important to the entire region that our photographers joined others in the 1970s and 80s in capturing the work as it progressed.
Scroll through the images above to see eight of our photos, starting with preparatory work in 1973, and continuing until the early 1980s, when the completed bridge was attracting visitors in its own right.
All pictures are copyright of The Press.
We are continuing to put thousands of our old photographs online. For the latest new additions, see our history section.
