Brace yourself - it's Black Friday this Friday.
But it doesn't need to be about vast hordes rushing to huge shops.
Instead, make Black Friday much more civilised. Here's how:
- Go to the pub
- Buy one of Yorkshire's brilliant black beers
- Breathe a sigh of relief that you're not shopping
Here are a few options to look out for locally...
- Brigantes in Micklegate currently has Derby Day from Ilkley, a black mint stout. Great Yorkshire's Blackout is also due on shortly.
- The Blue Bell in Fossgate has Acorn's Old Moor Porter
- Sutler's, next door to it, has High Treason from Rooster's, which is brewed with black treacle
- The Waggon & Horses in Lawrence Street will have 8Sail Brewery's oat malt stout, Windy Miller, on by Friday
- The Rook & Gaskill, also in Lawrence Street, has Great Heck's ever-popular Voodoo Mild
Happy hunting!
