POSTAL bosses have revealed a list of Britain's most festive street names, ahead of Christmas.
Royal Mail staff say there are around 3,400 Christmas-themed street names on their database, including a Christmas Pie Avenue in Surrey.
Christmas Street, Reindeer Road and Rudolph road are among the most festive names, while Holly Street is the most common across the UK.
But what are York and North Yorkshire's most festive street names?
Here are a few suitable examples:
- Sleigh Lane - near Ganthorpe and Terrington, west of Malton
- Holly Bank Road - in Holgate in York
- Robin Grove - also in Holgate
- Turkey Lane - in Catton, near Topcliffe
- Yule Lane - in Green Hammerton, off the A59
- Chestnut Court - in New Earswick
- St Nicholas Place - off Lawrence Street in York
- Fir Tree Way - in Thorpe Willoughby
- Spruce Close - in New Earswick
- Shepherd's Road - near Hutton le Hole in Ryedale
- Stocking Lane - in Hambleton village, near Selby
- Marygate - in York city-centre
- Angel Yard - in Whitby
Steve Rooney, head of Royal Mail’s Address Management Unit, said: “We decided to find out how well Christmas themes were represented on street names. The team came up with a number of words closely linked to Christmas, drew up a shortlist and began to investigate. We found the Christmas theme was very well represented and we had a lot of fun doing it.”
