Ryedale District Council’s recycling officer John Brown with some electrical items which can be recycled
Has your iron run out of steam? Are you cheesed off with your sandwich toaster? Has your drill ground to a halt?
Ryedale District Council, together with York & NY Waste Partnership, is supporting Recycle Week by backing a scheme which encourages residents to recycle their WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) instead of binning it.
Linda Cowling, chairman of Ryedale District Council’s commissioning board committee, said: “Recycle Week runs from June 18 to 24, so if you have something small and electrical at home that you don’t want any more, don’t bin it, bring it to your local household waste recycling centre.”
The council will be placing stickers on everybody’s refuse bin to remind them about recycling electrical items.
