Packaging in spotlight at schools

YOUNGSTERS in North Yorkshire are to take part in a week of activities designed to cut levels of food waste and packaging.

Some 55 schools in the region will take part in next week’s first Waste Week, including Barlby High School in Selby, Bootham Junior School in York and Pocklington Infant School.

Pupils will learn about waste generated from lunch boxes and snacks, with the aim of reducing the amount which goes to landfill.

Lunchtime Crunchtime activity packs will be issued to pupils participating in the scheme.
