WORK to recycle Christmas leftovers has been going on at City of York Council depots.
Residents have been busily recycling their old Christmas trees at the household waste recycling centres at Hazel Court, Towthorpe and Beckfield Lane.
Coun Dafydd Williams, cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods, said he believed the scheme was a good idea for the city.
He said: “I would urge residents to recycle their real Christmas trees if possible.
“Either take them along to any of our household waste and recycling centres or chop them up and put them into the green waste bin to be picked up on the collection date.”
The recycled trees are made into compost.
