PLANS to improve a nature reserve in York have been put forward by a Labour councillor.
Councillor Anna Semlyen, who is vice chair of Chapman’s Pond nature reserve in Woodthorpe, has drafted a new management plan and has started bidding for funds to build a new circular stone path around the pond.
It is hoped the new party would allow more people to enjoy the site, including increased disabled and pram access to a fishing platform and land to the rear of the reserve.
Coun Semlyen has bid for £2,000 from the York Pride fund for the feature, but improvements are already taking place at the site.
The next meeting of the Friends of Chapman’s Pond is at 7.30pm on Thursday, January 12, at Love To Eat Café in Moor Lane, Woodthorpe.
