DEVELOPERS who are transforming a former York railway station into the city’s new council headquarters have secured approval to install panels which will make the building more environmentally friendly.
The energy-saving photovoltaic (PV) panels will be fitted at West Offices, in Station Rise, which is being turned into a new home for City of York Council through a £43.8 million project, after the authority’s planners granted permission.
York Investors LLP, which is in charge of the project, said the move would reduce the site’s carbon footprint by ten per cent. The development is scheduled to be completed at the end of next year and will house the council’s customer contact centre and 1,400 staff.
