COUNCILLORS are calling for Ryedale District Council to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 11 per cent in two years.
In a motion to go before the full council tomorrow, Coun Tommy Woodward and Coun John Clark say their authority is committed to cutting greenhouse gases.
The motion states: “However, it failed to join the 10:10 campaign,” They propose “Ryedale District Council will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions from January 1, 2010 levels by 11 per cent before December 31, 2011.”
The 10:10 campaign was a national bid with wide-ranging support to reduce emissions by ten per cent by 2010.
