Day 11: June 24 - Ayr to Crianlarich

Weather stayed fine and we agreed to push on to try to get to the hotel to see the England game kick off at 3pm. Took the ferry, which was very nice and gave us chance to have lunch. Then cycled up through Loch Lomond. Got stopped by the MOD police for speeding – joke! They tried to get us to go the long way round, but no chance there.

Great football result and so far we’ve beaten the rain, hills, floods and wind but last night we were finally defeated by the midges. These little pests were awful but the heavy rain should get rid of them.

Tomorrow we push on to Fort William and Fort Augustus, weather forecast looks dreadful! Great to see the charity money keeps rolling in. When the going gets tough the fit lads disappear up front leaving the rest of us to catch up at our own pace.
