12:00pm Monday 21st June 2010 in Fundraising fun
A steady day. Unfortunately our best cyclist, James Shepherd, who had been outperforming us all, had also been carrying a leg injury from day 2 which gradually got worse.
Even on 1 leg he was beating us but he made the wise decision to call it a day after being in considerable pain. Jamie, we’ll miss you and Shaun has guaranteed to eat your double English breakfast from now on.
Whilst at the station one or to of use noticed there was a direct train from Chorley to Bowness, we could have there in under an hour but thought we’d never live it down so we got back on our bikes and continued on.
There is a photograph of us all at the Bowness sign which is our half way mark we’ve just completed 500 miles. Which meant for the last five miles we sang the Proclaimers song “and I can walk 500 more”!
Finally, after a meal we walked down the hill to Lake Windermere for a photo in the sunset, unfortunately had to walk up hill afterward.
Tomorrow is a big day as we move towards Scotland. It’s amazing how many of our group are now producing Scottish ancestry. I understand Iain is even prepared to be sponsored the last 400 miles in a kilt.
