Making music in aid of St Nicholas Fields

THE first of a series of fundraising concerts in York starts tonight.

The opening concert to raise funds for the Friends Of St Nicholas Fields, takes place at the St Saviourgate Unitarian Chapel in York, from 7.30pm.

Autumn Music For St Nicks will include autumnal music for piano, voice and strings such as pieces by Antonio Vivaldi, Edvard Grieg and Antonin Dvorak combined with traditional folk songs.

The musicians – David Hammond, Lucy Jubb, Lucy Phillips, Catherine Strachan, Thea Jacob and Rooftop Chartreuse – are kindly donating their talents to help raise funds.

The charity is dedicated to improving the lives of people in York through sustainable environmental action including waste and recycling initiatives, conservation volunteering and management of St Nicholas Fields nature reserve.

Light refreshments will be available and tickets cost £8/£6, concessions on the door. Advance tickets with £1 discount can be booked by phoning 01904 411821.
