Auction plea for Help For Heroes

FUNDRAISERS for Help For Heroes have urged local businesses and residents to support a charity auction this week.
Donations are still welcome for the auction, which will take place at the Post Office Club in Marygate, York, on Friday.
All funds from the event will go towards building a new rehabilitation centre at Catterick Garrison, allowing injured soldiers to be close to their families while recovering.
Andy Innes, who has organised the event with his partner Gemma Sissons, said: “It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs. It’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he drinks through a straw. It’s about Richard, who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife “It’s about them all. They are just blokes, but they are our blokes. They are our heroes.”
The event, which also includes a live band, will see dozens of items up for auction, including photo shoots, tattoos, items signed by Plan B, brewery and Cadbury World tours, signed prints, and tickets to events at York Barbican and Theatre Royal.
Andy said although there were numerous lots already on the auction sheet, more were still welcome, and urged anyone who can help to get in touch.
He said: “We would be very grateful if you could help by donating something to this cause, it doesn’t matter how big or small. It will all help to raise the much-needed funds.”
The auction will be held at the Post Office Club from 7pm on Friday.
