MEMBERS of the public have been asked to don a pantomime horse costume to take part in this year’s Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk, at York Racecourse.

The event, which will be held next month, will see volunteers and fundraisers take part in either a one-mile walk or a 10km walk, to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

This year, a line-up of panto horses will take part in the Great Gallop alongside the walkers, to raise funds for services to help people with dementia and carers.

Julie Lee, Alzheimer’s Society community fundraiser, said: “It will be great to watch – it’s quite a challenge to run in full costume and stay in a straight line, so all bets are off.”

Anyone can sign up to take part at memorywalk.org.uk or by phoning 0845 3060898, but the horse race is open only to businesses.
