A DEPARTMENT store in York city centre has raised £650 for the fight against dementia.
Staff at Browns in Davygate held a series of events, including a fashion and beauty party held in Rhodes restaurant, attended by 50 women and “one brave young man”, which included an Estee Lauder beauty demonstration and mini catwalk show.
There was also a Decleor beauty party held in the Regis hair and beauty centre in Browns. Regis also made cakes to sell on Jubilee Saturday in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The idea for the fundraising drive came from Diane Coulton, who works on cosmetics at Browns and whose daughter Natalie, 19, works as a carer and wanted to raise money for the society as her late grandmother, Marjorie Pyett, suffered from the disease.
