Jam and chutney maker Janet McClure, of Storwood Nurseries, near Melbourne, is offering the chance to have a summer tasting at her farm shop to help raise funds for St Leonard’s Hospice in York.

On Sunday, between 10am and 5pm, visitors will be able to sample and buy her home-made preserves – different varieties of her popular jams and chutneys made in the traditional way without preservatives – as well as ham, cheeses, pates and cordials. Admission is £5, which includes strawberries and cream and a glass of wine or fruit juice. Sue Miller, fundraising manager at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “What could be better than the fresh taste of homemade jams and chutneys?

“We know that lots of people will be keen to go along to Storwood Nurseries on Sunday to try them out, and we are very grateful to Janet.”
