THE fourth proved a powerful date when these customers and staff at the Derwent Arms in Osbaldwick raised money in aid of young cancer patients.

A Star Wars-themed casino night on Friday called May The Fourth Be With You raised £800 as those attending dressed up as characters from the blockbuster science fiction series, listened to Star Wars music and placed their bets.

The pub was filled with Star Wars backdrops to put everyone in the right mood.

The evening was in aid of the Neuroblastoma Society, which helps those who suffer from the rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer, and brave Kelfield six-year-old Jamie Inglis, who has suffered a neuroblastoma relapse and undergone surgery to have a tumour that caused paralysis removed from his spine.
