Miss York contestant stages charity race night

A MISS York contestant is organising a charity race night in a city restaurant tomorrow night in a bid to raise as much as £1,500 for the Variety Club.

Sarah Moore, 19, formerly of Heworth but now of Full Sutton, near Stamford Bridge, is staging the event at Loop Bar & Grill, near York Barbican in Fawcett Street, from 7pm.

She said among those attending would be North Yorkshire racehorse trainer Mick Easterby, who knew her brother Joe, who owned Loop, although she did not expect any of his horses to be involved in the race videos being screened.

“There will be Bucks Fizz on arrival, a buffet-style meal and a race night, and also a raffle of 30 donated prizes from local businesses including paintballing and hairdressing vouchers, and there will be live music entertainment,” she said.

“Tickets costing £10 can be bought in advance by phoning me on 07872 958 975 or on the door for £12, and I am hoping the evening will raise as much as £1,500.”
