Seaside challenge to help hospice and charity
8:41am Wednesday 2nd May 2012 in Fundraising fun
TWO friends are planning to run the 42 miles from York to Scarborough this summer to raise funds for York Against Cancer and St Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough.
Christian Machen and John Hall will tackle the first leg on July 27 – coinciding with the start of the Olympics – and will stop at Malton overnight before completing the run on the following day.
John said he had lost his mother to lung cancer three years ago, but during her 18-month battle she was supported by many different cancer charities, and since her death he had taken part in numerous fundraising events.
“Unfortunately, I am sure we all know of someone who is currently battling with this awful disease or have sadly lost their fight,” said John.
“Through completing this run, we are hoping to raise funds that can be used by York Against Cancer and Saint Catherine’s Hospice to support the people who are currently battling.”
The pair can be sponsored by going to justgiving.com/Christian-Machen or justgiving.com/John-Hall8.
