A PAIR of fitness entrepreneurs in Selby have joined forces to help a seriously-ill four-year-old boy.
The parents of Thomas Cammack have raised more than £52,000 towards their goal of £500,000, to send Thomas to the US, where he can be treated for neuroblastoma – a cancer which spread from his adrenal gland to his skull, bone marrow, blood and pelvis.
Mark Tipping is a health coach and personal trainer with bases around York and Selby, and took up the appeal after he read about Thomas Cammack online.
Mark said: “I know the family through friends, but it was through Facebook that the appeal was brought to my attention.
“I have a little boy, Billy, who is the same sort of age as Thomas Cammack, so when I saw about the appeal, it hit home.”
Mark turned to an old friend who has just opened a new gym at Selby Business Park to discuss a joint contribution to the appeal.
Steve Thompson, who recently opened selbygym.co.uk, agreed to donate a percentage of new memberships to the appeal, and give Mark free use of the facility for boot camps on Mondays and Wednesdays, with all proceeds going straight to the appeal.
