A TEAM of Muay Thai boxers endured sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow to undertake a six-hour skipathon in York in aid of the city’s Special Care Baby Unit and Help For Heroes.
David Philips, owner of York-based Legions Gym, said a group of ten Muay Thai boxers based at the gym took it in turns to complete the mammoth charity challenge which was held in Parliament Street on Saturday.
At any one time there were five people skipping, while one member, Adam Everington, managed to complete the full six hours without stopping.
The challenge started at 9am and continued until 3pm despite snowfall beginning shortly before 2pm.
David said: “It was hard work and the following day everybody said they were struggling to walk properly but it was worth it. We think we have raised about £2,500 altogether.”
