Proceeds from a charity farmhouse breakfast topped £7,200 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Anna Lupton, organiser and host of the event at Carr House Farm bed and breakfast at Ampleforth, said: “We learned this was the most money that anyone has ever raised at a breakfast event in the ten years since the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was established. It will keep two helicopters in the air for a day.”
Former undefeated British, Commonwealth and European super-middleweight boxing champion Henry Wharton, who in early spring is due to launch his new Eastside Boxing Club and fitness centre in the former Regent Cinema, in Acomb, put in a personal appearance to draw the raffle.
The sell-out event, which catered for about 100 guests, also featured an auction of promises, with 42 lots donated by local businesses and individuals.
There were also donations of raffle prizes, along with food and drink products for the meal from local producers.
