POOCHES at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will be egg-static with the latest fundraising efforts from some feathered York friends.
English Heritage archaeologist Dave MacLeod is selling eggs laid by his flock of chickens to staff at his office in Tanner Row to raise money for the charity.
With about 25 chickens in his Fulford back garden, Mr MacLeod said the birds lay too many eggs for his family to eat.
“We can’t eat them all, and there’s only so many eggs you can pickle and save for a later day, so we decided to sell them to raise money. We have been helping with Hearing Dogs for Deaf People for a few years now by babysitting and training the puppies, so we decided to give the money we make from the surplus eggs to them.”
