IDEAS for improving the area around a York nature reserve are being sought.
The Friends of Chapman’s Pond are drawing up a management plan for the land in Woodthorpe and looking at potential sources of funding.
A site visit will be held next month with the aim of compiling suggestions.
The group plan to install a circular path around the site, which is owned by City of York Council, to make it accessible for prams and wheelchairs and are also looking for builders who may be interested in submitting quotes for the work.
The site visit and litter-pick will be held on Friday, February 3, from 9am for about an hour. Anybody who wants to attend should meet at the pond gates or, if the weather is bad, at the Love To Eat café.
Dringhouses and Woodthorpe councillor Anna Semlyen is also inviting people who want to submit suggestions or letters of support to email them to cllr.asemlyen@york.gov.uk.
Alternatively, write to her at Guildhall or 24 Grange Street, York, YO10 4BH by February 10. The Friends of Chapman’s Pond will also be holding a meeting at the café at 7pm on Thursday, March 8.
