A CHARITY in York is looking for businesses to host Christmas parties for the elderly.
Employee-volunteering charity York Cares is looking for people to spend their lunch hours with residents of 15 different elderly people’s homes during the course of next week to help celebrate Christmas.
Volunteers can spread Christmas cheer by serving mince pies, singing carols and organising festive quizzes and bingo games.
Christmas parties will be taking place at Fordlands, Gale Farm Court, Glen Lodge, Grove House, Haisthorpe House, Haxby Hall, Lamel Beeches, Marjorie Walter Court, Mill Lodge, Morrell House, Oakhaven, Oliver House, Willow House, Windsor House, and Woolnough House.
Jacqui Tesselment, of York Cares, said: “We know that the residents of our local elderly people’s homes thoroughly enjoy themselves and love meeting volunteers for mince pies and merriment. This is an annual event for our volunteers and we want this year to be bigger and better than ever before.
“The companies that have already signed up to the Christmas festivities with York Cares are Aviva, CYC, Langleys, The Partners Group, Pension and Benefit Services Limited, The Press, Tesco Askham Bar, Yorkshire Bank, York Marriott, York St John, University of York.”
For more information about the volunteering opportunities with York Cares and sign up to the Christmas activities phone 01904 323482 or email info@yorkcares.co.uk before Wednesday.
