A FUNDRAISING ball in Harrogate has raised £160,000 for Barnardo’s in Yorkshire.
The Firecracker Ball, which took place last weekend at Rudding Park, smashed the £1 million barrier for cumulative funds raised for the children’s charity since 2002. The Narnia-themed event was treated to enptertainment by Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley.
The beneficiaries for this year’s funds are Young Carers – children who help to look after a member of the family who is sick, disabled, has mental health problems, or is misusing drugs or alcohol.
Phil Taylor, Firecracker committee chairman and vice-president of Barnardo’s, said: “I extend extreme gratitude to our guests and event sponsors for their huge generosity.”
