THE chips were down and the indigestion tablets were on standby as John Sellers tucked into a 90oz steak – all in the name of charity.
It took John only 34 minutes to finish this mammoth chunk of beef as he was cheered on by 100 punters at the Steer Inn, near Wilberforce, on Saturday.
The eating challenge was part of a night-long fundraising drive to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer.
John, 40, of Stamford Bridge, said: “It was tough. I managed to eat it all, but I was glad when it was all over.”
Landlord Nigel Cram said: “You could tell the last bite was a tough one but with the support of everyone, John did it.”
John raised £360 for his efforts and Nigel said more than £1,000 was raised in total through a host of other fundraising activities including a fireworks display, karaoke, disco and an auction.
