THERE is a long way to go for Flight Lieutenant Cal Lowey as he attempts to run, cycle and ride nearly 4,000 miles in aid of Help for Heroes.

Currently on operational service in Afghanistan, Flt Lt Lowey is attempting to cover the distance from Camp Bastion to his UK base, RAF Boulmer in Northumberland, in between shifts.

Encouragement comes from his US Marine colleagues and friends, where he works as a aerospace battle manager as part of 903 EAW and the International Security Assistance Force.
