Ten-year-old Jordan Thorpe donates savings to Macmillan Cancer Support

10:46am Friday 3rd September 2010

JORDAN Thorpe, aged ten, last year generously donated his entire savings to a collection for Macmillan Cancer Support during an event staged at the Claxton home of Bill and Liz Heath.

Bill and Liz will again be opening their doors at Lawnswood later this month, and inviting people to support Macmillan by taking part in the charity’s flagship event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Last year, the event raised £1,700, and featured a variety of activities from a raffle to stalls selling a range of items, as well as cakes and coffee.

Mr Heath said: “We are happy to support Macmillan Cancer Support. Holding a local coffee day is easy compared to coping with cancer.

“We are very fortunate that the local community supports and encourages us to hold this event. We are constantly searching for sponsorship to improve the overall results for the day.”

This year’s event will be held on September 24 from 10am to 3pm. For details, phone Liz or Bill on 01904 468428
