A café that provides on-the-job training for adults with learning difficulties has a new electronic till – thanks to the Rotary Club of York Vikings.
Krumbs Café, in Tanner Row, York, is a joint venture by the national learning disability and mental health charity, Unite Response, and City of York Council.
Students there can gain a national vocational qualification in hospitality and catering, while developing skills including food preparation, handling money and serving customers.
Manager Angela Bennett said: “Our ultimate objective is to help trainees find real employment in the outside world.
“We are truly grateful for help given by York Vikings Rotary Club, and for the support of local company, Bluehare Solutions, who provided us with in-house training at no cost.”
