Former Miss York Helen Jackson to model at charity fashion show

THE Lord Mayor of York has enlisted the help of a beauty queen for a fashion show in aid of his favourite good causes.

Miss York 2008 Helen Jackson will be one of the models on the catwalk to raise funds for York Against Cancer and Brunswick Organic Nursery and Craft Workshop – a workplace for adults with learning difficulties in Bishopthorpe.

The event will take place at York’s Guildhall, on Thursday, at 7.30pm.

Seven local fashion outlets are supporting the event – Elise, Get Your Frocks Off, LK Bennett, Mannix Menswear, Simply Devine, Thimbelina of York and Zak & Flo.

There will also be stalls to browse and entertainment from Oliver J Brooke – who was the 2006 winner of Strung Out, an acoustic music contest in York.

Helen, 21, said: “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s absolutely vital that these local charities are supported and I just hope we can raise lots of money.”
