THE success of a charity cycle ride across the UK by members of the RAF in North Yorkshire will see them back in the saddle to repeat the journey “uphill” this spring.

Four members of the Military Provost Guard Service, based at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, will set out from Land’s End in May to make the gruelling 900-mile trip up to John O’Groats.

Last year, after setting out from John O’Groats, the cyclists raised £2,700 for the Help For Heroes charity.

Staff Sergeant Mark Ford said: “We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.

“We are passionate about what we are doing and as far as we are concerned the sooner we can see results, the better.”
