THE Great Daffodil Appeal was launched on Saturday by York’s Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The Lord Mayor of York, Coun John Galvin, was on hand to help with the launch and was out collecting donations from members of the public, as were members of New Earswick All Blacks Rugby League Club under 13s’ squad.
Marie Curie is asking everyone to “paint the city yellow” this March by wearing one of its daffodil pins.
Money raised from the appeal will provide more free nursing care for people with a terminal illness in their own home and the charity’s hospices.
People can get a daffodil pin from Marie Curie shops or from volunteer collectors in the street.
