Nestlé Easter treasure hunt to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care

FAMILIES are being invited to take part in a great Easter treasure hunt later this month – and Willy Wonka himself would be proud of the prize.

Confectioners Nestlé, in association with The Press and York Museums Trust, is organising the hunt in aid of its charity of the year, Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The winning family will win a unique trip to the company’s York factory to try their hand at making their own KitKats and other chocolate treats.

The Hunt takes place on Sunday, March 28, starting at the Museum Gardens and moving around the city centre.

Contestants will be given an easy-to-answer sheet with questions about specific sites around the city, and will go round finding out the answers before returning to the gardens, said a Nestlé spokesman. All families will receive a Nestlé goody bag, including small Easter eggs and cereal boxes, and will be entered into a draw to win the trip to the factory.

Entry is by pre-purchased tickets only, costing £10 per participating family, with start times taking place between 10am and noon and 1pm and 3pm. The Nestlé spokesman said each family would be contacted ahead of the day with their allocated time slot.

Closing date for receipt of entries is March 23.

Nestlé UK is hoping to raise a quarter of a million pounds over the year for Marie Curie, with several events in York having already made tens of thousands pounds.

The spokesman said: “We have already raised more than £100,000 at Nestlé Confectionery sites across the country.

“Marie Curie was chosen by employees, and by raising £250,000 we will provide 12,500 hours of care in their own home for people who are terminally ill.”
