FORMER heart patients will have a new defibrillator, thanks to the Rotary Club of York.
The Rotarians raised £700 so that the York Coronary Support Group could replace its current defibrillator with a more mobile one.
All the members of the group have had heart surgery or treatment and help and support others with heart problems. They are trained to use a defibrillator.
Club president Ian Stockley said: “Rotarians are very conscious of the great work done by the York support group. Several members of the club have had the benefits from the many services provided by the trust since it was set up in 1988.”
Support group chairman Tony Tolhurst said: “We get no financial help from the NHS and all our activities are paid for by members’ fundraising and donations. We now offer heart patients a very wide choice of options to maintain their fitness and aid their recovery and this new defibrillator will be a real asset.”
