STAFF and customers at a York department store have helped raise thousands of pounds for the Hearing Dogs For Deaf People charity.
Workers at Fenwicks, in the Coppergate centre, have collected £6,220 through a host of fundraising activities, including selling charity cards and hosting a “posh tombola”.
The money will be used to train hearing dogs at the charity’s northern training centre at Bielby, near Pocklington.
Fundraising manager, Nikki Denton, said: “We’re delighted with the fantastic amount of money that Fenwicks staff and customers have raised for us.
“We don’t receive any government funding at all, so we rely entirely upon the generosity of companies like Fenwicks to be able to continue to train dogs to change the lives of deaf people.”
