IT WAS a school day with a difference when an event planned by pupils raised cash to help the people of Haiti.
The fundraising day at Huntington Community Primary School included games, competitions and cake stalls.
Pupils also paid 50p to attend school without uniform at the event, to raise money for the Haiti earthquake appeal.
The day was planned by a group of Year Six pupils, who were quickly joined by other children as they tried to raise as much money as possible for the appeal.
Ann McKeown, the school’s head teacher, said: “Pupils in Year Six shared their initial ideas for this event in assembly time and it has grown from there.
“I am proud of the way our pupils have shown such thought for others less fortunate than themselves; some have donated their pocket money to the appeal.
“It is great that we can help the relief effort in our small way.”
