Life’s a bed of roses for Lee Quickmire as his pub football team at The Fox, in Holgate Road, York, create calendar for Marie Curie Cancer Care charity

RECREATING some of the most iconic images in Hollywood’s history meant macho egos had to be put aside for a team of fundraising footballers in York.

Pretty Woman, Ghost, American Beauty and Rambo are just a few of the blockbusters which have provided inspiration for members of the pub football team at The Fox, in Holgate Road, for the creation of their charity 2010 calendar.

Lee Quickmire, who came up with the idea, stripped off and laid out on a bed of rose petals for his interpretation of the famous scene from American Beauty, inset. He said: “I had to do a lot of persuading of the lads. There were a lot of macho egos.”

The calendar will be launched at the pub on Sunday, December 13, and can be pre-ordered by visiting www.ihelped.info All proceeds go to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

•Earlier this year, Lee dressed in drag to swim five kilometres to raise £2,300 for the charity.
