UNIVERSITY student Hannah Crosbie is starting a fundraising drive to thank Marie Curie nurses for the support they gave to her grandfather.
Hannah, 20, who is studying business management at the University of York, will attempt to complete September's Great North Run half marathon in under two hours.
Her grandfather Ronnie Sigsworth was able to spend his final weeks at home surrounded by his family, thanks to Marie Curie nurses.
Hannah said: “It wouldn't have been possible without the support of Marie Curie and the fantastic team of nurses who helped make this happen and enabled us to spend invaluable time with him.
"The Great North Run provides me with the opportunity to say thank you to the charity and help raise more funds to support the charity’s work so that they can continue to support other families in the area."
Hannah’s grandfather was a train enthusiast, so in a fitting tribute, Hannah will be collecting at York train station.
