A FUNDRAISER donned a daffodil costume and immersed herself in a bath of beans all in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Shoppers passing Superdrug in York saw a surprising sight through most of Saturday afternoon as area manager Angela Quantock staged her four-hour eye-catching stunt in the shop window.

Shop staff raised £1,800 over the weekend with Angela’s stunt along with a tombola, a children’s lucky dip, an Easter poem competition and a cake sale. The cash will be added to £618 already raised by the shop this year.

Shop manager Anne Nicoll said: “We’ve been honoured to work with Marie Curie over the last couple of years and the team are always so enthusiastic about helping to raise vital funds for the charity. We’re thrilled with our fundraising effort so far in the partnership and Angela being convinced to sit in a bath of baked beans really set the mark for our fundraising efforts this year.”

In two years, Superdrug customers and staff all over the UK have raised more than £100,000 for Marie Curie, helping to fund nursing care and support for families across the country. The money raised at Superdrug in York will be added to the 2015 fundraising total.
