DOZENS of romance authors from around the world will take part in a fundraising event in York next month.

The event is called Tattooed Bad Boys, and will see 45 writers, from as far afield as New Zealand and the United States and whose romance novels focus on “bad boys”, autograph their work.

The event, on April 25, will raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice and Marie Curie during the day, and at a party in the evening, and will feature York author Helen Stothard.

Helen, who writes under the pen name Ava Manello, organised the event for British readers who have seen similar signings take place around the world, but this is the first in the UK.

She said: “I wanted to create something different for the UK readers. The majority of our attending authors are self-published which means that they can’t be found in local bookstores, their paperbacks are only found on Amazon and their eBooks are found on digital platforms such as iBooks, Kindle, Nook and Kobo.

"There’s a huge demand to meet these authors and with York being such a beautiful and family friendly city it seemed the perfect location to bring everyone together.”
