STAFF at a York building society branch have been stepping out to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Employees at Yorkshire Building Society in Feasegate took it in turns yesterday to walk on a stepper machine with the aim of walking 24,000 steps – a thousand steps for every hour in the day.
They were raising money for the society’s Hour Of Need campaign, which will enable Marie Curie Nurses to provide even more vital support for terminally ill people and their families across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK.
Branch manager Dean Alsop said staff were also selling the charity’s popular daffodil pins throughout March.
Lucy Herron, of Marie Curie, said the money raised was hugely appreciated and would help the charity’s nurses provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their hour of need.
