A CHARITY supporting homeless men and women in York has received a cash boost totalling more than £2000 from a business in the city.

Engineering solutions firm Tata Steel Projects has raised £2,200 for Arc Light as part of its annual work to support a different local charity each year.

Throughout 2014, staff participated in fundraising activities such as monthly dress down days, bake sales, go-karting endurance races and football tournaments to raise £2,200 which will go towards one of the many Arc Light initiatives.

Jeremy Jones, chief executive at Arc Light, which provides accommodation and support to homeless men and women in York, said: "In a challenging economic climate Arc Light is needing to rely more and more on the generous support it receives from the business community in particular to develop its support programmes.

"Due to the year-round commitment of Tata Steel Projects to raise money for Arc Light, we will be able to commit a significant sum to the Making Every Adult Matter initiative, which is designed specifically to assist those with multiple and complex needs.

"Arc Light constantly seeks to break new ground in service provision and is currently working with local NHS trusts to develop bespoke health-centred housing options for clients who might otherwise have nowhere else to turn."
