A KIND-HEARTED youngster from York is planning a hair-raising charity fundraiser, to help seriously-ill children.
Olivia Byford, nine, of Bishopthorpe, wanted to trim her long locks and decided to find a good cause to benefit.
She chose The Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs for children who have lost their natural hair during cancer treatment.
Her mum Chantelle said: "The charity provides the family with the wig free of charge so we were encouraged to raise as much as we could along with the hair we donated. It costs £350 per wig so that was Olivia's goal."
She and friends have already held a bun sale at her school, Archbishop of York CE Junior school, raising £40 and builders working in her street gave £93 in sponsorship, but she is keen to raise more ahead of the hair-cut on March 7.

Chantells added: "Everyone has been lovely and helped Olivia with donations but she wants to get as much as she can because she loves her long hair!"
