THE Jane Tomlinson Appeal has announced it is giving away £100,000 for charities and good causes across the region.

The money is part of almost £8 million which has been raised over the years through a series of races including the York 10K and York’s annual Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon.

The charity was set up in the name of the late inspirational fundraiser Jane Tomlinson, whose daughter Suzanne said yesterday: “Having just hit an amazing fundraising milestone, we are looking forward to sharing some of that with deserving causes.”

She said that local causes and projects across the regions could apply for a share of the charity pot, ranging from a couple of hundred pounds up to £15,000.

“We’d like to hear from as many charities and organisations as possible.

“They just need to tell us how they will spend it and what benefits it will bring.

“We would especially like to hear from charities that work with children or cancer patients and their families. They are causes that were obviously close to Mum’s heart, as they are to ours.”

l Groups applying must be of charitable status and the bid should be for a specific project – not general running costs. Applications close on March 16.
