SUPERMARKET staff raised thousands of pounds for an emergency service during various bag packs at Asda.

Youngsters from 110 (City of York) Squadron Air Training Corps helped to donate £5,600 to Yorkshire Air Ambulance during events throughout 2014.

The ATC squadron raised more than £1,500 when they helped customers in November.

Angela Rennison, Asda's community life champion, said: "We are really proud to have raised more than £5,600 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and we would like to thank all our customers and colleagues for their generous contributions.

"Asda would like to give a special thank you to 110 (City of York) Squadron Air Training Corps for helping us reach our total."

The Air Training Corps (ATC) are constantly looking to recruit new members and have regular intakes of potential cadets in January, May and September.

The Squadron meet on a Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7pm to 9.30pm.
