THE Rotary Club of York has handed £1,150 to Yorchestra, a registered charity run by volunteers to help young people develop their musical talents.
Club president John Lacy, accompanied by Graham Todd and Fred Anderson from the club, presented a cheque to Julie McLeish of Yorchestra.
Mr Lacy said he was delighted to support the city's arts and young people."The money will be held in a bursary to provide instruments and financial support," he said.
"The best part of being the President of the Rotary club is the distributing to local charities of the many thousands of pounds we raise through the Rotary Club of York Dragon Boat challenge and other fund raising events.
"A big thanks to all who supported us this year especially at this years Dragon Boat event, which raised over £55,000 for local charities."
